Sharon Bazant, author and adventurer, is pleased to announce the release of her second travel memoir, Geckos & Guns: The Pakistan Years. This new 2021 volume follows on the heels of Bazant’s 2019, Nine Years in Bangkok: Lessons Learned. Geckos & Guns tells of the time before Bangkok and follows the Bazant family, two adults and two teens, as they strike out from their comfortable Canada home. Their “hardship” posting for the United Nations places them in Islamabad, opening with Sharon and the kids joining Wayne in January 1991. The book chronicles their five year stay there. Where Nine Years in Bangkok is a tale of Bazant’s personal soul journey, Geckos & Guns describes the family adjusting to new and different surroundings, embracing cultural differences, and even recognizing imminent danger.
